Actros 2545 Key Problem

My 2013 Actros 2545 is not starting..Driver parked for a rest and on restarting refused to start with a message INSERT KEY AGAIN.Key is opening doors remotely bt not even illuminating the dash when inserted with insert key again.What could. Be the problem?

Not familiar with units but by any chance he didn't drop the key or it came apart? Transponder inside it damaged or lost? i thought even with a fault wit key it should at least put ignition lights on. Possibly the switch itself that the key goes into or a fuse for it? It was Thursday past so id guess its running by now?

Would not say with certainty if key was ever dropped or not.On looking at the key it looks intact.We got an auto electrician to check fuses and relays and all seem OK.So really now the thinking is the key itself is damaged or software issues if any!

Could well lost sync between key and EIS.

Sure the trucks can be scanned for codes at a MB commercial.

Sure mate. Indeed got MB local dealer to scan and apparently retained no faults. Cheers!

The keys have an immobiliser chip inside, they can become dislodged and even go missing if the key is dropped
