My daughter had 4 new Michelin's fitted to her C200 coupe recently.
The garage said they could not check and adjust the tracking, which her worn tyres suggested that it needs adjusting. They did not have ADAS equipment supposedly needed as the car's camera(s) would need re-calibration if the tracking is adjusted.
I visited another tyre shop that has ADAS equipment and was shocked that they stated that while checking is free adjustment and re-calibration would be £150 per camera and the options fitted to the car would define how many cameras the car has.
I've run the data card which, in my view, shows 258: Collision warning with active brake assist and 235 Active park assist as possibly being relevant.
My questions are:-
- Do the above options mean ADAS calibration is definitely required after tyre changes or are there other options that I should check for?
- If I have the tracking checked and adjusted without ADAS calibration is this likely to generate error messages/codes and will the safety of the car be compromised?
I cannot believe that the minor geometry adjustment of the tracking could do so.
