Hi I'm new here. I've searched forums but could not find info specific to my question. If it is out there apologies, please point me to the correct thread.
I've had my Adblue issue with limited mileage diagnosed and was informed the Adblue Injector/Metering valve needs to be replaced. The unit is relatively easy to replace, however is it necessary to have the new unit matched up in software or some other diagnostics reset? The unit I can get is OEM.

ad-blue bugs were the start of a sorry story where the emission system was a massive fiddle from the get go - it was never legal and never really worked...

the ad blu functioning correctly should end up somewhere with the last SCR update at the end of a sorry mess (but might need a £1200 ad blue tank replacement to get you started) the Engine ECU is full of deliberate bugs (at least 4 separate issues) - they got found out - and eventually wrote a good one a year ago - but the car can't run that fault free software until its on latest DFP sensor and Mk3 NOx sensors

Thank you for your response Botus, much appreciated.
I've ordered a new Adblue Injector/Metering valve and wll replace the 'faulty' unit, but from what you are saying this is unlikely to resolve the issue.
If this is a known issue and MB were 'found out', what are your suggestions to proceed from here?
Where can I find the information you are referring to?

more recent replies from a few owners here - suggest Merc UK's (treatment towards customers in the hands of dealerships) is becoming more proactive in helping customers get vehicles that might one day meet the homologated standards they were sold as having when new.

This is a gigantic leap from go away, or worse, give us 2k and we'll pretend to put two year old software and faulty from birth Mk2, 4 year old NOx sensors on the car and hope the customer dumps it before it plays up again. Until this year, that was the prevalent attitude dealers appear to have been trained to implement within the UK

Adblue injector and metering valve are two different parts. Never changed an adblue injector.

Thanks Botus, are you suggesting the best, or probably only, approach is to go to a dealer and hope to get a fair shake?

Star, thanks for your reponse. Where is the Metering Valve and where is the Adblue Injector?
I think there is a lot of confusion out there as many seem to refer the same thing so it will be helpful if you can shed some light on the two different parts, where they would usually be situated and how to know if one or the other is faulty?

Sorry don’t work on vito’s, generally on cars the injector is on the exhaust close to the dpf and the metering valve in the adblue tank.
