Hi All,

Apologies I suspect this question has been asked numerous times but here we go again,

Can I use any adblue for my 2014 C220 or it has to be from stealers?! Screwfix sell adblue for diesels 10ltr for £18 I think.

Thanks

You can use any , just makes sure it’s the most recent dated one you can get . Also maybe consider adding an anti crystallising agent as well

Why do I need this and can I add adblue without it?

Because AdBlue has a tendency to crystallise leading to ££££ bills - you’ll need ~20ltrs of AdBlue to fill up and whatever dosage is recommended for the adaptive on top of that

Look on eBay for ad blue ,you can get 2x10 litres for around 20 odd quid. The forte stuff is pretty new stuff AFAIK. 1 bottle treats a full tank of ad blue .

I hope it’s not too late but, in addition to just adding add blue, I’d say say pump out what ever old stuff is in there first. Then add the additive and fill with fresh ad blue.

I was getting that stupid adblue message every 2 weeks. Just shy of of px/ing the thing, I drained, refilled with adblue, add some additive and I’ve done 3,000 miles in peace since…. Let me find some wood to touch quickly!

I should have mentioned this earlier, I had a NOX sensor replaced a few years ago and then the second one went. Stealers refused to replace the second one so for about a year now the yellow EML light has been on for that issue. Could it be related to the adblue being low?

Not experienced any real driving issues since its been on. A little smokey now and again.

I hope I can add the adblue with the additive and get rid of the 'refill the adblue' message?

Thanks

Ad blue being low is one of 3 things , it is low or the level sensors built into the ad blue heater are either faulty or crystallized. The level sensors need adapting to new level after a fill.

So not related to my nox sensor issue?

Hope it's not!

AFAIK one Nox talks to the other, then that controls the ad blue metering . I'm surprised you've lasted a year tbh without the dreaded 500 miles then no engine start possible. Warning ⚠️.

Am I okay to fill up the adblue first and then the additive when it arrives?

Ita going to take a few days to arrive and the adblue constant reminder is annoying.

Just put some in, you don’t have to fill it in one go
