How's this for a crystalisation blockage? The error code said adblue impurity, or something simmilar, but none was getting past that crystal wall ! It's Forte Exhaust Crystal Preventer from now on.

Where was is that. I almost certainly had same issue. I had software for adblue written out of the ecm, when I reinstate my workshop I will investigate that.

The nozzle is a direct feed from the Adblue tank I guess, and it fits into the feed to the exhaust. I'm not familiar with the exact layout. Strange that the nozzle seems clear but the build up was mainly in the tube afterwards. The garage engineer was so amazed he took the photographs.

I know I'm tempting fate .... but I've yet to have any Adblue problems with my car. I've had it around 4 years & about 35000 miles. I've yet to have the car ask for Adblue & have just added a gallon every now & then ... I once brimmed it, but that wasn't intentional. The car does get used around town but I do try not to used it to nip to the local shops etc, when it does get used properly, it's generally towing our tin tent.
I wonder how cars that have crystal problems compare usage wise to those that have no problems at all ..... ??? And do cars that have had the emissions software update suffer the same way? bearing in mind that they apparently drink more of the stuff

Around 74000 miles. The EML came on about 5 months ago and I cleared it and didn't give any more thought to it then it re-appeared a month ago so I cleared it again but the EML was back on in a few days. After trying the Forte product, I realized I should take it to be looked at and this is what they found.
Lee at the garage recomended I keep up the Forte treatment with every Adblue topup.

I had the emissions update done two and a half years ago at 58,000 miles and have had no problems so far. My MPG dropped from 44.7 to 43.1 but my driving did entail more trips onto Dartmoor after the update so it's hard to draw accurate conclusions on MPG.

The car did ask for more Adblue about a year ago so I put 10 litres in and Mercedes put some in at every service. I don't use the car every day since retirement but avoid short journeys as much as possible.

This is my first Adblue problem in 20,000 miles.

My ML can easily sit for a week without use, I use the Smart to go to work in, but I declined Merc's very kind offer of the software update. It goes to an Indie for servicing & as he's never mentioned Adblue I doubt that he adds any.

Your car has done a similar mileage to mine
