Brilliant, love stuff like this - although from before my time (ahem).

Had to google the 330GT

Wow, if only you had the foresight to see what was going to happen in the future. I seem to remember back in the 70's when I worked as a car salesman in a high end sports car dealership selling a Ferrari 330GT of a similar age and I am sure that it was something like £8,000 and we took in a Jaguar E Type roadster series 2, I believe, in white as part exchange, can't remember what we gave for it though :)

A friend of mine must of had a future vision that cars would be worth more.
He bought up car like Ferraris, Lagonda's, Jaguars, mainly XK120, 140 etc, a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, AC Cobras to name just a handful. One of his cars was a 67 330GT which I tried to buy off him. He said he wouldn't sell that car to his worse enemy. It was the most embarrassing, unreliable car he had ever owned and it was eventually consigned to his shed :(
My Wife wanted the E-Type which he said he would sell to her. I wasn't that keen on it. However he sold me his 63 Belair instead
The next car I was looking at was a 67 SS Camaro but unfortunately he died on us
He had a P3 Alfa too at one point. I heard that it sold to a Japanese businessman for we'll over a million dollars.
If we all start too buy £200 cars now, in 50 years they'll be worth millions of ££££ ;)

True story. In 1956 (think Suez Crisis re fuel) when I was in a pram and we lived in company accom while dad worked on a major project in Scotland he bought the motor below from a town garage for the outstanding bills on it... £15. At the end of the contract he drove it with mum, myself in said pram, our luggage and jerry cans to refuel all the way back to our London home. A week later he sold it on to a work mate for the same £15. This picture of it outside my grandad's house is the only one we have. I think it was around a late 20s model from the horizontal radiator grille.

Then by chance in the early 1970s around or just after the time when there was also a fuel crisis with rationing cards issued he was looking to buy a new Triumph estate. In the dealer showroom was a new red V12 E-type hardtop he could have bought for about £2250, the same as the Triumph, but as the salesman said no-one will ever buy big engine cars like that any more... he wasn't quite right as it turned out.

In current times, there are two endorsements waiting to happen for this (i.e.: one for each badly worn tyre...
- No doubt the rears are probably just as bad which would tot up to four!
- I won't even think of saying "Happy Days"...

I like reading the old ads for cars. Think that the extras are great, wing mirrors, reclining seats and seatbelts.

Wow, imagine how great electric windows would be !!

Lots of 1966 newspapers under our underlay, there for the next owners amusement now.
