ADVICE: clk 2004 back lights

wonder if someone can help i changed a bulb on the back left side ( side light ) my clk 2004 now every so often it say on dash 2 mallfuntions left side light not working and turn over to backup side lights but this has never happened before and only started when ive changed bulb ( but if i mess with bulbs on back it goes back to normal )

checked bulb and its the same

Johnney I would try another bulb,,make sure that it is an Osram or Philips, and or use some switch cleaner on the bulb and holder

if you look at the contacts in the bulb holder it will look dirty, I used a cotton bud and some wd40 to clean them.

television what the diffrents in useing Osram or Philips i just got some loose ones from my local car discount store

Though most known makes come down the same conveyor belt and are badged up, some from the far east may not be so accurately made, it only needs to be slightly out to upset the lighting fault indicator

cheers Malcolm ill try a clean when i get a chance if not ill try a philips bulb just to see if that work

Malcolm the bulb what i changed was the brake light but when i checked other while i had back light panel off it the bottom left bulb what working itself ( side light on rear ) tryed to clean it but it feels a little loose in bulb holder and if the problem comes on dash as a rear left tail light all i do is open boot and tap back of bulb holder and it comes back on just i not want to mess around with it till i now what will solve problem

If its possible to close the holder slightly, then I would,but get some non drying switch cleaner from maplins and spray the holder well
