Hi guys, new member here. I’m looking for advice on how much a W202 C180 elegance would be worth? It has 30k miles and is in absolute mint condition (was featured on a magazine in the past). Any help with what this would be worth would be really helpful. Many thanks!

Hello and welcome

Sounds like an ideal candidate for “Bangers and cash“ - Mathewson‘s auction house

I’d start with autotrader - some very different prices being asked there… Below is a much more desirable C240 but similar miles

Thanks for the advice! Basically one of my neighbours has had this Mercedes for years in his garage and hardly ever been taken out and has offered it to me for 3.5k, so I just wanted to know if that would be a good price to pay as I haven’t got much knowledge on Mercedes. I’ve included some pictures of the car that is being offered.

Thats rather nice. A Sport too
I've had two of them in my Merc history.
A 1998 C240 Esprit (collected ex factory) and a 1999 C240 Elegance.

Very strong price on the below C280

I'd rather the 240 at that price.
Frankly given some of the 202 prices I've seen that 240 is a bit of a bargain.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah it’s in pretty much exactly the same condition as seen in the magazine. Would you say £3.5k is worth paying for it? Cheers

I'm a big fan of the 202 although I've moved on from them now. However I've had 4 in the past, 2 of them being C200's and as long as the car is in exceptional condition with zero rust then I'd be happy to pay £3.5k for a very low mileage example like that. My 202's served me well!
Ps beware the C180 will be slow. The 200 was no ball of fire and personally l wouldn't want a slower car which the 180 will of course be.

For 3.5k I'd go for the 240.
A little worse on fuel but streets ahead in refinement.

That said the one in the magazine does look very good.

It sound very tempting, if you say it is a nice as was in the magazine and you sre happy to buy it, try going in with a lower price.
Any featured car in any magazine isn't worth more, I've had quite a lot of my cars in magazines past and present which made no difference when it came time to sell. Just thought I'd throw that in for good measure.
