Advice needed - 420 SL

I have an old Silver 420SL... well 1987!

She's in a bit of a state to be honest: rusts coming through all over the place & she's puffing and panting so needs a good overhaul.

I've been told that although she looks a tad tired she's actually sound structurally.

A couple of questions:
1 - Has anyone renovated an SL and have any advice or idea of cost?
2 - If I wanted to how much could I get if I sold her now??

She's done just over 148,000 miles & I have the hard top.

got a photo of it ? old cars are the most fun to do up,

and are definetly worth the effort, keep it for a year, spend some money/time doing it up, then sell it and keep ALL the receipts

As a project it may not be worth that much as someone knows they would be buying work :-(

You have to be careful what you finish up spending on the car. If you want to keep that individual car and feel you will be happy with it as work progresses then it's worthwhile.

However you may find it turns into a real moneypit and even after thousands are spent it can be difficult to acheive what you are really after.

If some general cosmetics and mechanical titivation will suffice then i'd say go ahead. If not look at selling and putting some more cash into an already sound example.

Also bear in mind that the "very best and very low mileage cars are fetching 20k plus !
