Any opinions on this. It's very low mileage and had me tempted.

99% of MBs are autos for a reason they are much better than the manual g/b, certainly much less popular and harder to move on

I would go for the E class, but I have had one for 9 years. 500Kms a week the diesel will pay for itself, & that milage will minimise the DPF issues.

This is the e class. It has about 25k miles more on it for 2k less. Looks nice

Exactly as Blobcat, and for the same reasons. Heart ruling head, but still the best decision.

I tour Europe in the summer for about 3 weeks each year, the E class is the perfect car. I have done a couple of 700 mile day trips in the E class, not planned but happened. I cant think of another car I would want to do that sort of milage in.

As an E class owner I can highly recommend the one your looking at , and the economy will have you sold straight away, I regularly return up to high 40s mpg on a run and mine an estate. Good luck ....

C300 Estate (s205)
Well when I was looking between a C and an E I bought a C300....... It has all the gadgets I could want, pan roof etc and is quite nippy.... Not too large and not too small, so worked well for my needs. I would say really drive them and see which you prefer

2007 Merc 220 CDi Est Auto Av (s203)
I boughr my 2007 (S203) : C Class Estate Avantgarde CDi Auto in 2013 with 65K on it - intending to follow a plan like yours and update it every couple of years. After a year I realised it still drove very much like a new car and did everything I wanted as well as being economical on servicing and repairs - so I still have it now with 103K (miles) on it and still love it to bits. If I was going to consider a change I would go for an E Class mainly for the mpg that some models achieve. But as per comments earlier, MB diesel cars fine but the way it's going, all diesel drivers will be tarred and feathered before long!

btw: As mentioned above, whatever you do go for, take note of the earlier comments about MB Auto boxes. Personally, I wouldn't waste a minute considering a return to manual - the auto box is the the absolute best and because 95% of existing MB owners have automatic, when you come to resell it a manual is very likely to hang around and lose more money.

Do you have a good collection of "Indy's" (Independent Service specialists) in the Cork area? Unless you're going to think about a service scheduled contract with MB, do your homework so that you're in good hands without shelling out too much! We have some excellent indys over here and because of their background and extensive knowledge, they definitely save us a lot of £olly!

Best of luck with making your choice and do let us know in due course.
