I decided to change the cabin pollen filters on my 2001 w210 e-class elegance model!.I looked on youtube for a guide to which ones I required,as far as I could make out I needed the two behind the glove box!.On removing it to my surprise it looked nothing like the ones on youtube, there was no door and there seemed not enough space for the two filters!.My question is does my car only take the charcoal filters under the footwell,or has the previous owner made a pigs ear of the last change behind the glove box and just not bothered to put things back properly, can anyone enlighten me,I,m very puzzled!.

Are they not under the glove box, in the footwell ?.
Need to remove the carpet panel from underneath to see where they are

Which system do you have? LCD display or rotating knobs?

Did you not ask where you got them from, did you use a dealer with vin or just give your reg to ECP or similar.

You may have cassette type carbon filters under the glovebox accessible by sticking your head in the footwell.

You are likely to have the pollen filters behind the glovebox by taking the glovebox out.

Put your vin in many of the online vin decoders (merc specific) and that will tell you or go to the dealer and ask

Rotating knob (no lcd) has only one paper filter uder box. You can buy a charcoal type there too.

^^^^this^^^^

The LCD display version has two filters.
The rotary control ones use a single filter under the glovebox.
