Hi Guys,

Apologies if using wrong thread but need some help, I am having an uneasy entry to the world of MB Ownership.

Bought an ex demonstrator from MB London, and a long list of issues post delivery. In a nutshell been back 3 times and still 2 problems but I have been told they are normal and acceptable.

C200K Saloon 2005 model, it has a sports pack and upgraded sound system. Last two niggles are when driving on a straight road ie Motorway, release steering wheel and car tracks always right to left within about 2 - 2.5 seconds. Claims are normal for MBs with sports packs.

Sound system fine normally, but if listening to talk sport or other am/mw station front right speaker vibrates even on low volumes.

Please am I going mad ...... or unacceptable... anyone else aware of these normal niggles

Thanx in advance for any help

Depending on the width of your tyres, you may get some tramlining but if it is a consistent pull to one side I'd get it checked out as your tracking or wheel alignment might be out. Check for scrubbing on your tyres as this may be a tell tale indicator. Good luck.

Re sound problems, MW has a very poor frequency response, nothing much above 6khz, If you have the bass setting too high it can make the speaker rattle, other than that once a loudspeaker has been overloaded, and the suspension damaged it will always rattle. leaving the volume at one setting , move the balance over to left, if that one is OK, move over to right only, if only that one rattles it needs a new speaker.

Mine does this and it's not a sport.
When I test drove my car (6 mths old C270 estate) I tested for this - the salesman laughed and said 'they all do that'. He took me to a dual carriageway where I drove in the right lane (cambered to the right) and sure enough, it drifted right. The tyres have worn perfectly evenly and I've just got used to it now, but on the motorway I have to 'hold' the car to the right.
Do a search and you'll find plenty of discussion about it - apparently you can get special bolts which are 'adjustable' so you can adjust the camber, but the setting up of the steering seems to be something of a black art.

If you aren't certain with the response you got from the dealer, there is nothing tying you to them. Call into another dealer and ask for a second opinion, or ask to test drive another motor. You can check the radio in one of their demonstrators whilst you are at it.
