I have been offered a c180 but the coolant light is always on.The seller stated it was a faulty sensor.
What should I look for to eliminate anything more sinister before I commit to buying....????

Cheers John:confused:

Strange that the seller hasn't replaced the sensor before offering for sale.... check the water level, (and any obvious staining from any leaks). If the water level's low, could be more than just a sensor required. (like a radiator!).

Squeeze the top pipe at the bottom of the expansion tank, just to make sure there are no blockages. The water level should rise in the tank and overflow out the small pipe at the top. If that happens, there's probably nothing wrong with the radiator, it's just a faulty sensor like you mentioned. I had the same problem on my C200. Might be worthwhile disconnecting the sensor located at the top of the tank - you just turn it anticlockwise (I think!) and giving the connection a bit of a clean. If the light still comes on, then I'm 99% sure it is the sensor. You should be able to pick from up from a breaker or a new one from MB.

Hope this helps!

Let me know how you get on.

Johnny
