Good evening: having bought my September 2016 E220d cabriolet in January of this year it is going to have its first service in my ownership this coming Saturday. What is the correct specification and type of engine oil please?

Also when i make or receive a phone call in the car i cannot hear that well the person at the other end. How do i turn the volume - the radio / sat nav volume is fine?

Thanks
Steve

The spec should be 229.52 and the dealers will use the Mercedes branded oil , probably Petronas oil with a Mercedes label.

Re the phone call volume, IIRC try increasing the Comand radio volume during a call.
I've sold my E class now so can't check, but the instructions for increasing the volume during a call should be detailed somewhere in the User manual supplied with the car.

Thanks: What does 229.52 translate to in branded products. I would have thought a fully synthetic 5w / 40 suitable for diesel? Is that about right?

Yes, that's correct 229.52 5w/40 fully synthetic.

229.52 is more likely 5w30.

You can check brands and compliance here

Yes, turn up radio volume during a call.

castrol edge 5w30 M as sold in costco - NOT the cheaper 229.51 spec, castrol edge 5w30 LL version they sell alongside it !!!

the old world designations and numbers on a bottle of Oil are history - ALL major car companies use slightly modified specs for the chocolate componentry they now put inside engines - YOU MUST use Manu spec (aka the 229.52 stated by AMGeed), not any crap that says synthetic
