Advice wanted on Diesel Fuel to use

I have a CLK 220 CDI and on tick over it is clattering like a tractor - I am on my second tank of BP Ulitmate and it is now noisier on tick over.

Any suggestions on fuel or additives to use to quieten the damn thing down (I may be being unfair as my previous car was a CLK 240 V6)

Help please as I really like the car but am being driven nuts by the clatter

Would I start a backlash if I suggested a little petrol in the diesel LOL?

Only joking! Diesels are noisy (until they are silenced with insulation), whichever variation of fuel you use in them. Its inherent in their design (compression ratio around 20:1, basic thermodynamics of compression ingition burning). The fuel is irrelevent, it will happen with any brand of diesel.

If you want a car that doesn't clatter, don't choose a diesel.

being a BP employee, I can't comment.

I'm amazed at how much people pay for oil, yu shuld see hw much il csts in ur staff shp. (My keybard has a letter that disnae wrk!)

If you add petrol to your diesel it will be even more noisy...thats not the road to go....

Try Millers diesel additive, it works good, can be dear from some car assec shops, try a trade place like brown bros.
