Aerial amplifer -help please

Hi
2003 C180K coupe
radio only emits static but cd player is fine
Local independent tells me I need a signal amplifier unit
Does this sound right ?
If so I wonder if anyone can tell me where this part is located and if anyone has a part number it would be greatly appreciated
