Hi everyone. Newbie here (and newbie to MB as well). I have a 2000 SLK200K R170. After not being driven for a couple of weeks, when i went back to start it up, it was completely dead, no charge on battery, key fobs wouldn’t work. Had battery boosted by roadside assistance (car was in garage luckily) and all is fine. However, is it true that I need to “resync” the windows with the power retractable hard top? There is no info about it in the owner’s manual. Note: I’m in Europe, but it shouldn’t make a difference, I would imagine, in terms of functionality.

If so, can someone please provide me simple to understand instructions on how to do it? I’ve seen some YT videos but none about the R170, only sedans with sliding sun roofs.

Thanks.

To resync hold the window switch’s all the way down until the windows are fully down, then continue to hold the buttons down for another ~10secs.
Next hold the switches up in the close position until the windows are fully closed, again keep holding the buttons up for another ~10secs.

You may also need to recalibrate the steering angle sensor if you get the ESP/ABS lights on. Just drive slowly in a car park steering alternately left and right. Switch off and restart if necessary.

Thanks everyone, great info. I did just that and everything is good, except express up doesn’t always work; I did make sure the top opened and closed successfully, that took a couple of tries but the windows worked fine during that process. No ESP/ABS lights, in fact everything is good. Thank you!

Thanks. Everything is ok, but actually what I wanted to know was also about the hard top. DOes that need some kind of syncing as well?

Used to have a C63...
Probably same method, I think. Used to work with sunroof on my CLS... but not had an MB convertible to try it on!

Never had to reset the roof on my SLK, you could open it all the way then close it again.
