Has anyone regretted fitting aftermarket replacement panels instead of genuine Mercedes parts ?

I am thinking about replacing my bonnet and 2 wings soon.

The answer to this one has always been the same.
the cheaper panels take much longer to fit,if you can get them to fit. Where as the geuine parts are an instant fit.

I'll tell you next week, car is going on on Monday and getting a pattern front wing fitted, along with some other stuff. Saving £120 just on the front wing..

I wish I could get some Pattern Part Front Wings for my S 320 (140 series) but I cannot find anybody who makes/ supplies them, and I do not want to pay in excess of £ 100-00 each for 2 wings

There probably more like £200 each from the stealer.

The W210 ones are £180 each

ill tell you in a few years

replaced both mine on my w124 last year, they were 30 pounds form ECP, c.f to 160 ish i think for originals.

as malcolm says and you will find, youll need to drill the odd hole here and therer for them to bolt on and align correctly.

but are the aftremarket panels of same quality?A lot of the expense is in fitting and painting and would be a false economy if they rotted after a couple of years

I fitted a pattern sill to my now gone Truimph GT6.Definitely regretted it as the profile wasn't of good standard in relation to the rest of the car.

About parts prices-my w123 ce has a scratched/scored driver's door glass which I shall replace in the spring. At approx.£200 from MB,I'm glad I only have to justify to myself the cost of the one window.I quess I knew owning a Merc. would mean Merc. running costs-very elegant car though,so worth it for me

Cheers Steve

I hope they are not the same quality as the 5hit MB use for their cars.

If they last more than 3 years i will consider them better quality!!

As for fitting, for me its the bodyshop thats doing the fitting, its them that recommended using these panels as they have fitted shed loads.
