I have a little issue in the SL500 I recently purchased. I miss my XM radio, and would like BlueTooth and an MP3 plug in. As you all are aware, Bose stereo's are an integrel part of the cars electrical system, and I have heard that if you take the stereo out in favor of an aftermarket unit, you lose the warning tones for the other parts of the car. And because the speakers are all electrically powered, you have to replace them as well.

Has anyone had any luck with aftermarket radios? If so, what brand, and did you also lose some of the cars features?

I have no problem replacing the speakers or the stereo, I would just like to explore my options.

Hi,

Mine packed in recently in my SL320 97 model. Replaced it with a Kenwood unit only about £60. It has all latest features like MP3. Had to make sure it had an ISO connection, however its much better than the old Bluplunk and electric ariel works fine too.

Your Mercedes

Becker Grand Prix 7990, should work and it doesn't look like an aftermarket fitting.
