The repeater LED indicator in my door mirror developed a fault and I replaced the LED assembly with an aftermarket unit (non-OEM). It works fine but on first starting the car it shows a fault with the indicator. The light works ok and once the message is cleared it stays off. Is there a way to solve this without buying a Mercedes part?

I've replaced a few with aftermarket,
touch wood I've had no problems so far.

If it's an eBay jobbo return it, buy another rather than exchange and you have 30 days protection again.

Decent auto elec can bridge the wiring to fix that. Not sure how much they would charge though!

Probably cheaper to buy a OE one from the main dealer. They are only around £25

I was under the impression from something I read that they were about £150 and came complete with the mirror back (or more accurately front).
I'll just replace it if that's the case.

Thanks for all the replies.

Which model do you have?

I know the lens is available separately for a W210,W211,W212,R230 W219 and others but they may be some models where its built into the cover.
MB Grangemouth give discounts if you mention the forum.

Its normally whip cover off and unscrew led lamp and replace and cover back on.

If the non genuine you have is an unknown brand part then there you. if its from a car part manufacturer from a shop like ECP i an surprised.
I always tent for original on these things. They fit, they work and the patterning, shade are a match.
