Hi All,
Hopefully not another thread on aftermarket or OEM which is better but more specific to my car..

I have a v222 S600 and have 19” OEM AMG twin spoke alloys with summer tyres. They come with 245/45/19 front and 275/40/19 rears.
I am now looking for a set of winter tyres/wheels options..and there lies my predicament. After spending a lot of time reading through various posts in this and other forums and from previous cars I have had, winter tyres are good and having a separate set of wheels helps, if you can afford it, in keeping the summer set unmarked.
The options I have narrowed it down to are

a) buy a set of 18” v221 OEM wheels which do fit the v222 at a throw away price(but they look ugly) and winter tyres

b) buy a set of 18/19” aftermarket wheels with winter tyres designed for the v222 but marginally more expensive but really cool to look at.( leaning towards GMP Italia- would appreciate feedback from anyone who has had prior experience in owning this brand or can recommend a similarly priced brand they have used).

And the second part to this query is the tyre size.
If it is 19” then I will stick to a square set up and use 245/45/19.
Struggling to nail down a size and offset for the 18” wheel options. The offset more for the 18” aftermarket ones.

Would appreciate your thoughts on this please..

Used to have a C63...
You could possibly sell the "spare" MB alloys to assist purchase of the 18s you like?

The ET offset number & rim width should be stamped on the barrel of your MB 18s - I'd start with that for your new purchase. The place you buy them off should be able to advise, but willtheyfit.com also useful!

Your car's handbook should also give you the acceptable wheel & tyre sizes, quite possibly even state recommended winter wheel size options.

I’d go 19s personally for aesthetic reasons and winters here aren’t so bad so it’s cold weather grip which would drive me

Thanks John. Do you remember by any chance which ones these are as I can't seem to find them. And do you have summer tyres on them primarily?

I like the look of the 19s but from a cost of the tyres perspective leaning towards the 18s

"Mytyres" have many winter wheel and tyre options (bought mine there) if you put your car details in you can see how the wheels will look. I was very impressed with the quality - not a mark on mine after last winter. With some cheap ebay centres they look more than acceptable.

Can’t remember the model ( when I sold the car I left the COC and wheel invoice with the package), I used to change summers and winters on the same (18”) rim , sorry ....

18" are 8x18" ET41 fitted with 245/50 R18" all round, the rear will look a bit silly with a narrow wheel and tyre on though

The rear is a 9.5x18" ET 43.5 fitted with 275/45 R18

Alloy wheels direct are decent and new wheels vs as you say questionable second hand options

These.
They're winter tyres so will be subjected to a life time of salted roads. Why spend more than you have to?

Absolutely right, go for a fully powder coated wheel to ensure longevity
