No don't worry I haven't got any of these problems but just passing on a tip that might save people a few bob.

All of these systems work best if you use them. Problems tend to occur because especially with air con cars people hardly use the windows or the sunroof so when they try to use them they stick or stop all together. There have been a couple of postings recently about sticking sunroofs and no end with window problems. I had a Toyota (yes even they can go wrong although it's v unusual) where the sunroof broke and the problem was down to not using it from autumn through to spring so that when I did use it the mechanism stuck. Air con will also fail if it's not used regularly the refrigerant also acts as a lubricant for the seals etc.

So the solution. Every day open and close each window and slide and tilt the sunroof (takes about a minute you don't have to leave them open). At least once a week run your air con for 10 minutes or so or better still run it every day for a few minutes just to let everything circulate. I can't promise it will stop all of the problems but it should hopefully reduce the likelihood. You know what they say use it or you'll lose it (ever noticed that few of the window problems relate to the driver's window).

Apologies to those of you for whom this is a granny and eggs posting.

Cheers :D :D :D

Geoff,

I agree with everything you say except for the Toyota comment! The only company car we ever have trouble with is a Toyota.

The "use it or lose it" is very good advice. When I first had air con (on a ford) nearly twenty years ago the handbook suggested to use the system at least once a month for at least 15 minutes. The other items that fall into this group are electric mirrors and elcectric seats, not a problem if you share the car with someone that has to move them everytime but both can stick if the car only ever has one driver.

Mark.

The only window problem I have had is with the driver's window. Turns out the cogs were damaged, and needed to be replaced. Not a cheap job. Local firm did the job - and said that driver's window was always first to go wrong, because it was used more than the other windows!
