Uncle Slinky,

Does this mean you are driving again?

I (nearly) always drive with the aircon running in any car, clean air is clean air. Even with the roof down I think it makes a difference, and especially with the current hot weather I think it is essential

Off tonight to Mallorca for a week, sadly MrsC thinks that hiring an SLK at ?150 a day is too much, so its a nice Focus or similar for the week.

Good to see you back

Mark.

Had my aircon recharged today through one of my clients £30 and he came to me to do it. Now -10 degrees at the evaporator and oh so icy cold........

Went out this morning at 8.30am and so it was top down, heated seats on low and aircon set at 20 degrees

Coming back at 5.00pm it was top down, aircon on at 13 degrees, heated seats off.

The other control that is very useful is the foot operated right pedal, hit it hard on a nice straight quiet country road and watch the speedo climb well up to errr.. 70mph and blow some cobwebs out your head .......

So many combinations to get the comfort right but cant beat that icy draught on your face especially when stopped at the lights.

Is this a trap? It's no wonder there is a hole in the ozone layer. You may as well leave your fridge door open all the time, to cool down your house.

This sounds like the idea that some people have that leaving your headlights on all the time doesn't cost anything...'cos the engine is going round anyway!

no trap. just checking. anyway it would help global warming.

i noticed that it does blow cold air on you and its nice but i was wondering if any people think that you cant use your air con with the windows down or roof off...you know what some people are like.

And nephew....yep back behind the wheel terroriseing the neighbourhood. got some sun cream too.....saves the lobster impressions.

The advice for aircon has always been (for saloons) Windows shut and hit the recirc if required. This is common sense to avoid running the compressor all the time and using fuel thus saving the planet.

it occurs to me that if we all use our aircon all the time we can increase the greenhouse effect thus making it warmer giving us a valid excuse for using it all the time - and feeling smug over those people that dont have it....

Good point David. Although the speed you drive, I doubt you need it often. .

In the hot weather (25s upwards) , yes, especially in trafic. Set the Climate at about 18c.

Sitting out on my deck here, I see the first cloud for days. Is this the end of the hot spell? Its still very sunny though. Might do a bit more off roading later:

call that an off-road SL

Pascal, your car looks positively tame compared to this purpose built little beauty.

I think it was the SLUnimog.

Pascal's just extended the old addage "keep death off the roads, drive on the pavement" Truth is he probably has the optional Mercedes SL Grass cutter attachment at the rear - when you have a Mercedes no ride on mower is comfortable enough.......

And Pascal, have you notived that your offside headlamp wiper blade is not parked quite correctly, just a little too high up compared with the nearside, that would really irritate me...

Now that I have, it's irrating me too.

Would it be on the wrong spline?

How do I remove it? I change both on the CE but don't remember.

I think theres a hidden nut

behind the hinge-out cover, just like on grown up wipers. Wibble it first, it might just have parked funny.(although you aren't laughing).
Nice garden though. Want to mow mine after you've done my garage door?
I don't suppose you park it in the pool like Keith Moon?

Ah yea Myros ........ The little nut behind the cover .......... I see I could do with new wipers now. But with this beautiful sunshine, I hope I wont need them for a while.

Reagarding the photo Lyn. It's technically not my garden. It's the Phoenix Park.

assuming that you have saved your pictures in your "my pictures" folder just open up the folder so that you can see the picture, right click on it and select "edit", this will open "paint" , brush out the bits you dont want seen by selecting the paintbrush (select a colour with the pallette at the bottom), resave your piccy and there you have it.........
