Air Con

C200 coupe , 2001. Air Conditioning was recently topped up, lately I get a strange noise, almost like a scraping noise from behind the dash somewhere when I turn the aircon on, and the aircon comes out warm. Anyone have any ideas what it could be???

Air Con Problem

Anyone know my problem?

Turn on air con and set the blowers to 3. you hear a faint aerosol like noise coming from behind the vents. Do the same with the air con off and the noise has gone.
Turn aircon on and set it to 6 and when you turn the blowers off the fans stop, as they would, and you hear this loud gas like noise, almost like an empty spray can, coming from behind the vents.

It seems like the gas is leaking or something. I had new gas put in it 2 months ago.

Any Ideas????

I have merged your two threads together. Your second thread (now second post) is more descriptive. I would suggest that you bring your car to a reputable Air-con service centre. It dos seem that you have a leak in your system.

It sounds like it's leaking. When you turn it on, the pump starts building up the pressure...hence the aerosol noise.

I've a similar problem with my 2001 C320. When you start the car you hear an aerosol noise behind the dash and then you can hear the flaps clicking behind the dash every 10 seconds or so. What was your fix?
