Hello all,

I have a silly question regarding Airco. I have a C320 on a X plate. Please can someone let me know how i know when the aircon is on.

I have a button labelled auto, which has a red led light up when pressed. Does this mean the air con is on? I normally just use the temputure controls in manual mode which seems to heat and cool the car fine. Just would be nice to know if i have the aircon running or not.

Thanks.

Your air con is on with the auto light on, it is off when the EC light is on.

In the auto mode it will keep the temp set at the dials

Thanks Televison.

I do not have a EC light. I have three buttons. 1. is the rear window heater. 2.is the front window demister 3. is the auto button 4. is the ec rest button.

So i need to leave the auto button with the red light on all the time?

E C rest is the button which turns off the a/c compressor. When ec rest is pressed on and the little red light is on then the ac is off!

Note: The aircon compressor itself will only run when the outside temperature is above about 4C I think.

Its not a silly question. If you are unfamiliar with mercs, that red light on the panel is totally confusing :p

So just to be clear. I should leave the AUTO button on with the red light on?

Thanks.

I would leave the Auto button on (red light) if you press the EC/Rest button with the engine running you will turn off the AC. If you press it when the engine is off you can have the heater/fan running for ~1 hr (handy when sat waiting)

You can check if the AC is working by having an assistant switch the EC button on and off with the engine running whilst you look at the compressor at the front of the engine. If you see the clutch engage and the compressor spin up then you know the AC is working.
