Air Filter extinct

Dear Members.
Doing basic checks on car, Looked at air filter, soiled and oiled. Reffered to Haynes Manual for filter spec, It told me Champion W229. Names and numbers always seem to tell me that i have to buy that specific make. So went to Halfords thinking if anywhere, i'm going to get one from their. Afraid not, they have their own brand of filter which does not include an equivalent to the above named. I'm stuck, Do any of you know of a shop supplying parts for our car and if so doe's anybody know what type/serial no- i can use, after all , its an air filter.

Hi,
Take your existing filter out and take the details off of that and do a google with the pt. no.
To be honest if you are not putting in a gen MB filter, i would,nt worry to much about the make, I certainly would,nt take much notice of what the Haynes manual says.
If it was mine I would just go to my local branch Euro car parts, as their parts are OEM or OEM equivalent.

Put aint mb one in,go to a dealer with your reg/vin they have it on the shelf,aint expensive either.

Phone M.B. pay over the phone they will post it to you they are quite cheap, don't for get to have your vin number ready, hope this helps.

I dnt think Air filters are much different from MB or third party, Euro do Bosch ones and some other OEM Merc ones for around £10.

These parts are cheaper than merc and work just as well, if not better
