air flow sensor plate holes

Hello there everyone.
I'm new to the forum & just wanted to ask if anyone knows whether the 3 holes in the air flow sensor plate should be clear please. The ones on mine appear to be blocked up. I'm trying to start my 1992 SL500 which has been parked up for a long time due to I'll health. It was started about a year ago by my son and it run fine but now refuses to run. It's almost there but just won't fully fire up.
