Hi all,

Thought I'd start a new thread re the above which is part of my earlier long winded one. I have discovered air in the clear plastic fuel pipe coming off the fuel filter housing. I have changed the filter and the o ring on the pipe which has helped but if I rev the car hard I still see a rush of bubbles going through this pipe. A few questions I have are:

Is it nomal to have air in the lines when rev'd hard?
Am I right in thinking air in the fuel affects fuel consumption?
Have ordered the two new pipes to replace old brittle pipework and am hoping this cures the small leak BUT is there anywhere else air could get in?

cheers, Simon.

The air may cause missfiring if it gets into the high pressure side, but folks on here seem to complain mostly about poor starting and not fuel consumption.

air in diesel lines ---- not a good idea.

You shouldn't have air bubbles showing in the fuel lines, it may seem to start ok for now but if left untreated it will cause "airlock" and you will have a "none starting engine".

So to find the airleak, I would check the fuel lines, clips on the ends and signs of perished rubber pipes. The other thing I would check is the diesel filter, maybe its not fitted properly.

Replace all the O-rings on the pipework and at the filter assembly. They're about 80p each from a dealer
