Air Mass Meter warning on A-class

Had a warning light come on took it to a garage plugged it into diagnostic computer and it came back the Air mass meter needs changing, had a massive shock when i was told its £860+Vat the actual car drives fine....any ideas ideas or thoughts what i could do... We were about to change/sell the car for something more economical so this is devastating news...

There is a firm that rerurbishes the control units (air mass integral with engine control unit) for about £150 quid. Do a google search.

Got it. BBA reman is the blokes company name. Look on ebay and you should find it under shops.
