Hello all,

I have just had a diagnostics carried out on my 98 W202 C180 and it was confirmed that my air mass sensor is faulty which would explain the poor running.

Can anybody recommend a supplier for this unit please. On another thread I heard that one was bought for £42 + VAT from a Bosch retailer (although that was for a W21 E320). My local Bosch retailer has just quoted £128 + VAT. Does this sound right? Obviously I would prefer to pay £42 if I can.

Thanks.

I would get the one from Bosch, the £47 ones are suspect and many post on them being short lived

Have a word with the bosch guy and a few of the motor factors there is a bosch MAF for the VW range around £60 that will work perfectly well with other petrol engines,, it works a treat on BMW's, I will check and repost on it ok..

I have looked through a few more threads and found similar comments. The original thread I was refering to suggested that this low price was from a Bosch supplier. But I guess that different models of MB have different units at different prices.

If you can find a firm that will sell a genuine Bosch with a guarantee cheap then take it, as long as it can be returned if faulty

You need to replace the failed MAF with original Bosch either from Bosch agent or mercedes, cheap MAF's off ebay are not bosch units but china made cheap copies and they dont work very well and you will need to buy a bosch unit soon after so dont be tempted.

I was very impressed with maf-shop.com
Got a siemens unit from them, the same as the original siemens with merc stamp on it.
Was half the price of merc dealer

Thanks for the tip. I checked the website but could not find a Bosch unit for my vehicle. Their prices are considerably lower that MB, you're right, but not much different from independant Bosch suppliers.

Thanks for the recommendation though.

Well done. I don't know how I missed that. Actually it is the part number ending in 114 that suits my vehicle but at 200Euros + delivery it is slightly more costly than my local supplier.

I bought one yesterday from TT Automotive in Loughborough (Bosch retailer). £150 incl VAT. Fitted it in 10 minutes and car runs like a dream. Gold star to all those that suggested the MAF was faulty. Thanks for your help chaps.
