Just had some serious 'fun and games'(not!) replacing some airstruts on both my s211's E320's. Been using Aerosus as replacements.
After complications and swapping out valves into the old strut, I am now left with a brand new airstrut but without its solenoid/air valve and am needing a replacement.
There are a couple of different types of solenoids, a circular solenoid and a smaller type. The circular type solenoids seem pretty difficult to extract but the smaller type ones lever out very easily, just having a rubber O ring.
Anyone got an old damaged airstrut but with a working valve and solenoid? I am after the smaller type press in ones, rather than the circular bigger ones.
If I can get another solenoid then will pair it to the new strut and get it working again. Reason this one needs another solenoid is that it was originally not working and I cannibalised it to get the metal threaded sleeve out to fit to the old strut that had only the plastic thread on the valve and had stripped its thread.
Seems a weak spot on the solenoid/ air valves only having the plastic thread, so easy to strip when tightening the air hose (or accidentality over tightening).
Dumb having just a plastic thread, the newer Aerosus valves have a metal threaded sleeve insert, which seems far better. Even a damaged plastic threaded valve would be okay, as I can press a metal m8 sleeve into it to make the thread good again.
Anyone got any old unwanted airstruts laying about?
