Anybody got any idea a indie would charge to fit a air spring for the front passenger side on a Mercedes benz cls 320 diesel 2006. I already have the part from Arnotts.

Most Indies won't fit customer supplied parts.
If you can get someone to do it should be about an hour's labour.

Yea, I have seen how to do it on YouTube videos and it seems very straightforward if you have the righ tools.

Yea I know where that is. Many thanks
I will fit! BUT, if the part is wrong or faulty, the time it spends on my ramp is chargable.........

That is the biggest issue with customer supplied parts.

Wouldn't you be able to tell if it was the wrong part or faulty before you on it on the ramp though ?

There may be 4 or 5 variants of one part, on one veichle, depending on build date etc. Each will have their own MB part number. I sumply dont have time to cross reference the MB part numbers to the multiple 3rd part part numbers and then determine whether thay have accurately deduced the differences between different versions of the same part.

Additoinally, how can I test an air strut before it goes onto the car?

I have had the part cross referenced and it sounds kosher.
I just thought that maybe there was a way that they could be checked.
If i put my email address on here would you be able to give me a quote?

You would be surprised how many supplier say its right, until we go to fit it and its not. There are also lots of different ways a part could be faulty. Lets say you drive it, and after 10 miles it starts knocking. That's not something we could test. If there was a significantly obvious defect (like a hole in the side of the bag or something) then we could tell you before hand, but then we are back to the original issue.

A slot has been booked, that we cannot re-book and you have to go off and deal with the supplier you bought it from whilst we hang around :(

Absolutely, send it to me in a private message, or to alex@amfmercedes.com, better than putting your address up on here for all the spammers.
