Hi all, the two central dash vents on my 2004 E320 CDi don't seem to blow much air out at all compared to the other dash vents, even when the blower is set quite high.
No problems with the temperature of the air at all. The screen vent seems to pump out plenty too. Is this normal on this model of car or is something amiss?

Any help/advice would be most welcome.

Thanks............Joker.

Hi,
Have to disagree there Malc, my C43 centre vents air fully adjustable temperature, (digital elctronic climate control).
To the O/P's Problem if it was me I would look at replacing the pollen filter(s) one of them could be charcoal one. If your car was a 210, 202, 0r 208 I could of told you how to change it yourself but sorry can,t tell you how to do it on the 211, but I feel sure someone will post some more info for you.

Hi all, thanks for your replies. Still a little unsure where to go next. Can anyone out there tell me where the filter(s) are located on my car & how to remove them? Are there one or two? Also can't seem to find any on the web for sale, any recommendations where I should go?

Thanks................Joker.

Thanks for that Sam. Have taken a look and as far as I can tell the filter looks quite clean. A clean white outside with a darker inner core. Is this the charcoal type? Have recently had an aircon service by MB Northampton & the aircon is nice & cold coming from all the vents, there just doesn't seem nearly as much volume of air coming from the two centre vents compared to the outer vents. Any suggestions, or should I just live with it?

Thanks for all your help...........Joker

As i said Joker, we use the center vents for temp testing, these are the most powerful one,s!

So with other vents closed, you should have max power to the center!!

Now then Sam......... I've played around with these vents a bit since my last post and as I've said, the air coming out of them is nice and cold.........But they are definitely not the most powerful ones on my car. To explain further..

Inside vents shut, outside ones open......Very powerful.

Outside vents shut, inside ones open......Not very good.

This is the same at all fan settings.

It also seems that there is a little more air coming out of the centre left vent, than the centre right.

Sorry if this seems a bit picky, but I'm having to turn the blower up high just to get a decent flow of air to the centre.

As usual, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers......................Joker.

Hi all, well the air coming out of the centre vents is now down to not much more than a gentle breeze! Even with both outside vents shut & inners open its very poor, even with the blower at max.
The air direction switch (for want of a better description) seems ok & diverts the air to other areas well. When you swich back to dash vents you can feel it come through on the inside vents, but not very much. Outer vents blowing a gale!

As I said in previous post, the filter seems nice & clean.

Any thoughts would be most welcome.

Cheers..........Joker.

After reading through this thread a few times it seems you may have a fault with the positioning of the flaps in the heater box. They can be reset and recalibrated with a star machine. The motors that move them are programmed for a measured movement and this measurement can alter somewhat. What happens next is that the control unit sees the difference and adjusts the flap according to movement data.

It wouldnt be the filters as these are positioned before any of the ducting, if filters were blocked all the air speed from all vents would be decreased, not just one or two.

I would think the flaps need resetting.

Hope this helps.

weak blower fan

I've had exactly the same problem with very little air coming out of vents when there used to be a gale Turned out to be blocked pollen filters.
1999 E 300 pollen filter located in foot well on passenger side under dash
Two cream coloured clips slide across surface of black casing to release cover and pollen filter. Took it out and loads of air gushing through. Do I need the pollen filter? I just gave it a wash seems okay

Hi, have checked the filter under the bonnet, as per Sam's advice & that's all OK. Are there anymore on a W211?

Cheers......Joker.

Hi @thejoker,
Sorry to ask you this question 12 years later :)
Were you able to manage your issue?
I have W211 MY2006 and having absolutely the same issue with you.
I even replaced heater duo valve as some experienced mechanics advised me but didn’t work.
Zip tie solution looks like not a permanent solution. Do I have to ask to any MB Specialist to reset the flaps via Star?
Or does anyone have any other suggestion, would be appreciated.
Cheers
