Airbag recall

Had a letter asking me to take my car in for both front airbags changing.
Fair enough.

Letter also states they will perform any technical updates required while they have it. Anyone know what that covers. Don't want them hooking their computer up to my car.

Can they be trusted to just do the airbags if instructed to only do that work..?

I have instructed the main dealer not to do any ECU update on my car during servicing as it would wipe the remap.
No problem and it was written on the service sheet.

I think the emissions update for diesels has to be done but won't affect your car.

The diesel update is voulantry.

Had the same recall letter, called my local MB main dealer who wanted 3 weeks to obtain required parts so took the car to them Monday, had a call 2 hours later to say they'd found that the replacements had been "crushed" in transit so could not be fitted - in other words they had not checked the parts on receipt (Lookers MB Ashford). Very apologetic about the wasted trip, have already ordered replacements (and will check them on receipt before calling me to re-book the replacement). At least we had the car washed as an apology!

My car is a 2009 E350 cdi coupe. Also been mapped and that is my worry.
Don't want them doing an update and wiping the map.
The mpg improved massively with the remap as well. The car has never been outside the Mercedes system to date, don't know if that means its had the software update for the emissions or not..
