I have dual zone climate control in my 2004 E Class estate and at the weekend after a 300+ mile trip (may have nothing to do with this) the rear climate control started to pump out hot air. I set all zones to the coolest level, the front was fine but the rear was still pumping out hot air which was making the arm rest baking hot. I pulled over and switched off, then on again but the problem persisted. It happened again last night on a 30 mile run. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this? Many thanks. Gary

From memory it was a common fault in the early days of the dual zone system - arround 2002/3. I'm surprised you've got it on a 2004 but it is possible.
I believe there was a simple software fix for it, speak to your dealer.

Dual Zone Aircon on w211

Hi there to all, I have a E200 Kompressor 2003, and I am having problems with the aircon. When started, the drivers side will give out hot instead of cold air, no matter were the ring dial is. The passengers side works normally.
Any suggestions will be appreciate.

this sounds like a stuck duovalve if you have the last of the w210 series e-class. if it's the first of the w211 series e-class however it is less obvious to me - could still be a fault with the servo operated valve or possibly with the heat selector itself. get back with the series numer (first 3x numbers in windscreen vin) for more help. hth

Hi there Alex and Malcom,
Mine is a w211 2003 and when you are refering to the duo valve do you mean the heat exchange valve, if this is the one you aare refering, I have just changed that to a new one yesterday.

W211 E55 rear climate control problem

Hi Everyone
I have a 2003 W211 E55, I have been having problems with the quad climate control, when I put it on cold or the air con on, the rear climate control still blows out hot air, what could be the problem and is it a garage job or is it easy to do myself?
Thanks!

These all sound like the same thing - heater change-over valve.

One of the many common 211 problem areas.

Duo valve located under the bonnet, top left as your looking at the car. Located in possibly the worst area!! Mine was replaced by MBS and they made it look easy.....................but it ain't and it requires removing or part removal of the SBC system. I would find a good indie who should easily fix the problem.
Mine was doing exactly the same (i have 4 zone too) and we never realised the rear was pumping out hot, when we had it on cold.......cooking the kids lol
