Well, for all you Aircon(ners) :) .... my aircon, after 6.4 years of only being run once per month required a re-gas and today was the day of judgement........

Verdict, 15gms of R134a still in the system.... no doubt as Andy Wr can testify, this is a very good sign.....

Aircon ..... Mine is firmly in the OFF POSITION .... except once per month or if Im entertaining hot.stuff :D

...sorry type49.... its an on-going tetatet with Blobcat etc going back a year ago!

I dont use Aircon because I like the extra power (because Im a miser and buy underpowered vehicles) and because it detaches the contact lenses from my eyes when driving.

The arguments stem from the longetivity of airconditioners if you dont use them or if you over use them. Im from the old school which believes if you dont use it you lose it, so I regularly run my air-con (once per month) purely to keep it in good nick and to preserve it incase anyone else using my vehicle wants it on. Thus the argument is which is better, to always use it, to never use it, or to keep it maintained. After 6.4 years my aircon stopped working and after visiting an aircon engineer, the system was leak free and contained 15gms of gas.

So just winking at Blobcat, and to misquote him, I firmly leave my Airconditioner in the off position :D

Funny you should post this, today I switched on the aircon and I'm sure you can work out by the picture why I turned on the AC :)

I'll stay out of this one then! Don't wear contacts but I must admit, if my AC is on coldest setting over a long drive, my lips dry out.

PS. No dodgy jokes about my lips please

When I first had AC in a car I used to get massive headaches from "Brain Freeze" it took me awhile to work out that not pointing the vents directly at my head would be better. I find with Mercedes if you set the vents to the centre (where you can feel the notch) I never get "Brain Freeze"

Aaah...proof in the pudding.... Aircon floods Wales ;) ... either that or it has enviromentally damaged the atmosphere, caused global warming and the seas have risen and Wales coast outline now resembles a cat (as opposed to a pig) :D

Perhaps its 4x4s, polluting our atmospheres, causing the sea levels to rise, Wales gets flooded and thus Welsh laws dictate that all vehicles have to be 4x4s
