Airmatic issue

Hi. Hope someone can help with my GLE 250d airmatic questions…
Over the past few months, the drivers side rear suspension has occasionally been dropping overnight. I spoke to Mercedes’ and they said this can happen and to keep an eye on it. This afternoon whilst driving, there was a loud hissing bang and the rear drivers side suspension dropped to its lowest and now it will not raise. If I try raising it using the raise button you can hear air escaping. Any ideas what this could be?

One other point is that whilst the car was randomly dropping, you could still always raise it to the maximum height. I don’t understand how this would be possible? I have never had any warning lights or messages relating to the suspension.

Welcome. I don’t profess to understand exactly how the system works (and, no doubt, others will be along to clarify) but it sounds as though you have had a small leak in the system on the rear offside and that leak has now burst. You will need Mercedes, or a suitably qualified Indepedent, to have a look.

If your last service was done by Mercedes, you can call Mobilo out and they will recover the car to your local dealer as I imagine it’s probably not safe today drive as it is. The Dealer will arrange for a loan car.

Keep us updated please as my 2018 GLC has air suspension and we have had a couple of other posts about similar problems in the last couple of weeks.

Hi. The Mercedes technician has been out this morning and diagnosed a split air spring. It definitely is as he showed me the one inch rip in it. He said he could fit it in the drive if he had the part so called my local Mercedes’ dealership who said the part is on back order with no dates available. I have managed to source the part (from an hour away) at a cost of almost £500 including VAT. Just need to get it fitted now which the technician advised was a quick (under an hour) job

Got the part in hand and the technician is coming back later to fit. Fingers crossed it will all be sorted
