My E400d says Airpanel in the VIN code readout but I don't think it has one.

Anyone else think the same?

Controllable radiator blind, never seen one in the UK?
I think you'd know about it, as it must be controlled some way, and the louvres would be hinged...

Is it quite common for an entry to be in the VIN codes listing but not actually present on the car?

I wouldn’t think so normally, but the new cars do seem to be a bit different with their packages?

What is AirPanel?
The more air resistance you have, the more fuel you’re going to burn. Extra fuel isn’t just bad for your wallet, it’s bad for the world at large. To reduce the amount of fuel you use on the road, AirPanel is a radiator fin that responds to the engine control unit. If your car only needs low cooling power, then the AirPanel remains fully closed. It’s only when the vehicle is in need of higher cooling performance that the panel opens up. AirPanel takes into account the speed, coolant/water temperature, and the suction fan so you don’t spend an extra cent at the tank.

Wondering if it is not the whole grille (as was originally shown on C Class 2014) but just the bit below the number plate.

My W213 had louvres in front of the radiator that would open and close to aid heating up in the winter

Blobcat, Which radiator grille did you W213 have please - my S213 has this one.

I am assuming it had multiple louvres.

PS Do you know why it says "Active Senior Members" (as in plural) under my Avatar please?

Yes, same front as that.

Not sure of the “Active Senior Members”... perhaps it’s because you’ve been here so long

Thanks for that.

So it isn't the grilles at the front that moves, but behind it and in front of the cooling radiator?

Yes, it’s been over 2 years since I had mine and I can’t remember exactly where they were. Think at the bottom in front of the radiator

Different car I know by my Plug used to have the louvres in the lower grill in front of the radiator and intercooler, I’d suspect it will be the same on the 213 they are just behind the grill you can see

But mine isn't the external fins that move like the traditional rads do. Must be internal fins I assume. Will take a look this pm.
