AKSE Child Car Seat - Are they safe?

Just bought a new CLK - Fantastic car.  
Also have a 1 yr old child, so have the MB Child seat.  There is no harness to restrain the child - you get a pillow like thing which the seat belt attaches to.
Secondly, with the seat belt tensioners will this not hurt the child in the event of an accident as the pillow restraint will be tightened by the seat belt tensioners.  
Never seen this type of car seat design before - wonder what testing has taken place on them
