As a moderately new owner of a W210 estate can I ask if anybody out there in MBOA land knows the answer to a question I have regarding the alarm fitted to my car.
When locking/arming or unlocking/disarming the car the indicators flash but the alarm doesnt chirp as some other systems do. Can any body tell me if this is correct or not.In bright sunlight it is sometimes difficult to see if the indicators have flashed and a conformation chirp would be handy. Is it possible to get the alarm (the factory fitted one controlled by the standard MB electronic key) to make a noise.

Yes it is indeed s possible, but you must get the car hooked up to a MB computer to change the settings.

As far as i know, what you require are Dutch settings

My 96 W210 makes a noise if the siren/alarm is switched on by the small key which fits in the siren/alarm box under the bonnet.
The unit is usually on the passengers side and looks like a 6 inch long cylinder with a small cover over the key hole. The key turns on or off the noise and audio functions of the alarm.

You don't say how old the W210 is but early versions had an alarm that turned off slowly so many people turned the audio part off to avoid the alarm going off as they got in the car. (Must wait for the lights to stop flashing before you get in) It also seems to pref drivers door to be opened first.

A cheap fix if it works
