If anyone has experience of having an alarm fitted to a w107 SL please could they let me know which supplier they used. I am after a thatcham cat 1 that is suitable for use with the top down!! any info would be of use, particularly if anyone knows of a good fitter in the midlands

many thanks

no connection, but look at the Clifford Alarms website. Usually there is a disable switch for the interior sensor for use with top-down. You will still have the motion and door entry sensor and of course, two starting circuits are normally disabled. (Fuel-pump and starter).

I've just had similar fitted to a 300SL. You need any Thatcham 1 along with a Micorwave sensor. Motion sensor will mean friends and neighbours may want to kill you.

I just had a GT Thatcham 1 fitted which seems to do the trick. Make sure you tell whoever is fitting that the Central Locking is on a vacuum basis as they will need extra parts for this.

Yes, Microwave sensor is for the interior and replaces the usual ultrasonic sensor (which, incidentally is normally fitted by MB). But, the motion sensor is there to detect if the vehicle is moving or if it has been tilted to remove the wheels. This should not annoy the neighbours. You may be confusing this with the Ultrasonic sensor, which is more sensitive to noise and wind disturbance.
