Alarm/immoblilizer for 93' 190D 2.5?

So pleased with my 'new' 190 2.5D... BUT car has no alarm/immobilizer. Although it only cost £1700 it's precious to me. What sort of anti-theft equipment (Thatcham approved?) should I consider? I DO NOT want my 190 broken into and headed for North Africa, where I understand Merc diesels, particularly manuals, sell for strong ££££. Quite happy to spend up to £200 or thereabouts on protection. Or are those ugly yellow Stop-Lock things you attach to the steering wheel/gear-lever a cost effective answer...?

Any thoughts/ideas appreciated.

I had a TOAD alarm/immobiliser system fitted to my 124 for years. It gave excellent service and came with a lifetime guarantee. I think they have changed their name to TG21 nowadays and specialise in aftermarket systems including fitting.

They use franchised fitting companies. Mine was fitted on my drive and for circa £300 you will get top of the range although I can recommend their cheaper systems.

If your car is LHD it may worth ££££ in North Africa otherwise it may give people aploplexy if they see a RHD car ! I think it is not worth it to get an expensive security system. I put a steering wheel lock on mine and it's fine...

Immobiliser

Unfortunately immobilisers and visible deterrents like steering wheel locks only put off casual thieves. The "professional" thieves use tow trucks with speclifts and work in broad daylight. The only way to combat that is some kind of Tracker system
