alarm key fob

:Hi I have a w210 e200 merc and I parked it and locked it and when i returned at the end of the day I could not unlock it.
I opened door with key and turned the sounder off under bonnet with small key.
Alarm still went off but with no sound, lights flashing in mirror ect.
Then reset when i closed door and went off when i opened door.
Tried new battery in fob. did the 2 bleeps and put key in to 2nd turn ect.
Brought new fob from mercs and seemed to work as should.. but a day later is is doing the same. 3 times now. But this time it works if i keep on trying.
or open door and play with key in ingition.
Any ideas before i spend silly money on it please?

I take it the alarm is a aftermarket alarm, You say you turned it off under the bonnet,??

No its a merc alarm. I can turn the sound off under the bonnet.
The alarm still goes off ie light flash ect but no sound.
But the good news is, I changed the batteries in the brand new fob and it now works again!!
I would like to have a moan at mercs but my mate works there and got me his discount on the fob. still cost me £175 just for a fob with key.

Great site though, read lots of interesting things.
