My 1994 SL was stored in the garage
when I tried to start it the battery was flat.
I removed it and fully charged it,as soon as I
connected it up again the indicators started flashing rapidly.
the car drives, and the indicators and hazzards function normaly, but
when the indicator stalk is in middle position the indicators continue
to flash rapidly, continual clicking at a control unit in engine compartment.
Local garage had a look and told me I needed to get control unit (part no
A1298204926)(£265+vat) which I did (genuine new merc part). they fitted it but the fault still remains. pulling fuse 9 kills the indicators but control unit
continues to "click" when doors are closed. Can anyone help before I have to do a 300mls round trip south to dealership.

Only 2 things that I can think of, try a re set by disconnecting battery for 5 mins.

Other than that it would appear to be the stalk that cuold be faulty, as you have chenged the N10 relay box, there is not much left.

Malcolm,
I had to put water into the battery when it initially required charging. I see
from other questions posted that a dry battery could cause a power surge?
would there be an inline battery fuse or seliniod(if thats the right word) that
could be affected..??

Malcolm

Are you able to direct me to a wiring diagram for the N10 control unit(mentioned above).
I'am trying to trace wire 3(grey) from the connection plug, when the grey
wire is touched with an earthed wire the rapid flashing indicators stop and
the indicators and hazzards work as normal. I need to identify what the grey
wire is for.

any help gratefully appreciated

Regards

Richard

symptom sound the same , but I have not been getting any warning
light up on the dash. i will give your suggestion a check in the morning.
By the way did you get a buyer for the control unit,I understand from
the used parts dealers that it is a part which is commonly sought after.
Thanks for the suggestion......here's hoping
