We act as Insurance Brokers for a Client who has the above vehicle. He has suffered a Theft from His Boot with no Signs of Entry.

Police have advised that it may be due to his immobiliser being cloned somehow & wonder if anyone else has come across this problem. Have checked with Mercedes Dealers & they advise due to a "rolling number" cannot see how this can happen.

Help!

This model uses Infra Red to transmit to the interior mirror the lock/unlock codes, also has a revolving code system i.e. remote sends a fixed code and a changing code, next time the car looks for the fixed code and knows to expect a changed code. not easy to clone as the thief would have to be in line of sight of the remote unit to 'grab' the codes. I think the owner might spot some bloke standing in front of him with a 'grabber'.

maybe the car was'nt locked or has a faulty boot actuator.

Faulty Alarm

I have a 1997 W210 E-class. Occasionally when I shut the boot, it will open again of its own free will. I have to ensure the boot lid shuts squarely. It has even opened after I have started up and driven off. perhaps this is the cause.
