Alarm problem

I was driving along tonight and all of a sudden the alarm goes off

I pulled over and turned off the ignition, tried locking it and unlocking it and but the alarm just carried on, it stopped on its own for a few seconds and then started again. I tried everything i could think of to stop it and in the end it just stopped on its own and stayed off for the rest of the journey.

Any ideas why it did it and how i can stop it from happening again?

Seeing this a lot, siren been up-dated again, most common on a 203!

It has gone off a couple of times for no reason while being parked up but not while ive been driving along! I had images of being chased down the road thinking i'd stolen it! I get enough of those looks as it is without the siren going off aswell!

SAM is that the same part number for W208 CLK or it differs on C class than CLK. Mine dont go off at all. when i trigger the alarm by opening the door manually the blinkers go off to indicate that the alarm is going off but it doesnt actually make any sound.

could this be Siren too

Ah really? The amount im spending on this damn thing is crazy!! How much is a new siren gonna set me back? One thing i noticed aswell is that when it was going off while i was driving the hazards wasn't going off at the same time, any reason?

And is it likely to go off while driving again untill i get a new siren?

As the flashers were not operating when the alarm sounded that show really that it is only the siren at fault

The excessive rain did not help these thing much this year

Hi Steve and welcome,, ther are movement sensor and interlocks on the 230, it could be something with those, we have never had this yet on a 230. I will check to see if there are any known issues

The only thing listed is on the 230.

Do not leave metal objects in the center box as this can trigger the alarm.

Do you have any water in the boot, lift the cover and check for any water stains

I will be doing an article on sealing the roof on these cars shortly. Water can cause the alarm to go off.

The siren is under the wheel arch liner, I need to check what side as many components are on the opposite sides on the SL owing to the ABC components.

My washer bottle is leaking and I am taking off the drivers side arch over the week end and I can see, or I can set mine off in the morning.
