alarm problem

hi, am new to site so hoping i`m in the right area. I have a 1997 c200 elegance estate. Recently the alarm has been going off for no reason.I tried to turn it off using fob button but this has no effect. Unfortunately owners manual did not come with the car. I would appreciate any help with this as apart from that the car is superb. By the way i removed the batteries and tested them with a meter and they are ok as is the car battery. Also is there somewhere i could pick up/download a users manual?

I would say that the siren under the nearside front wheel arch line rear section has failed, getting common now, you could just unplug it or replace it circa £80
