Alarm sets itself - E class

I have 2003 E class, the alarm sets itself when I leave the car even if I dont lock it.

Can this function be disabled?

Its a real pain as I often open the door 5 minutes after leaving the car in the drive, set the alarm and then have to go in the house just and find the keys to disable it, by whic time all the neighbours are awake!

Sounds like a fault to me. I can leave mine all day and it won't arm (as far as I know). The alarm should be linked to the locks so it shouldn't arm with the locks open.
