Hi, last week my alarm started going off with no good reason, even when towing and motion sensing were disabled. So I’ve read older posts and removed the siren which seems to have stopped false alarms (no flashing indicators)
The 2012 siren pops open easily and circuit board looks fine so I’m guessing siren internal batteries are worn out. Has anyone had any luck sourcing/replacing the batteries?

The siren is cheap enough just plug and play as you probably observed.

Cant answer your question directly, perhaps a google of the PN stamped on them. They may well only be B2B and difficult to source.

I think you’re right, though I imagine a new siren might also need coding in with STAR?
My unit actually looks in good shape and batteries test OK on bench so I’ll leave it for a while to see if alarm fault recurs before replacing anything.
Thanks, Mark

No coding required with a new siren Mark. They are plug and play.
Last I bought one it was around £100

the pn will be stamped on the unit. a trip to the parts desk with your reg/vin will ensure correct part. Many parts get supercede esp things like sirens which have been around eons.

Alot of chips on there that can fail, battery may be fine, doesnt mean the rest is.

Thanks, I agree that’s the sensible option for the cost involved

If it does turn out to be batteries then you can buy ready tagged pairs for £10.95 from ebay. Simple enough to make the battery pack up to look like the original. 7.2v rechargeable packs 250+Mah are very common - its just getting the right shape to fit the space available....

Normally failing batt leaks onto pcb end of. Dtf. Must have changed design as when I interviewed mine it was not at all easy to non destructivly get into it
If u do manage to fit replacement batts do post method, source. If can be done .ecconomicaly some will choose (me) to try repair in future and spend savings on beer.

Currently on backorder so probably worth giving it a go.

3 of these wired in series and attached to the original flying leads/plug would do it. They are the same as the originals. They need to be insulated of course...

Thank you, looks good, so it means the 7.2V labelling visible on one cell relates to the set of three connected in series - that’s useful to know. As my battery set looks in good condition with excellent voltage I’m still thinking complete new siren unit is safest bet. For now I’m running without the siren and may look for someone local with a charge/discharge set that can fully test my battery pack.

Your battery code is 6 / v250h which is 6 Varta battery cells part number v250h which are 1.2V each - so 6 in series = 7.2V. Yours are 3 pairs of 2 similar to the ones I've listed - so each pair is 2.4V x 3 = 7.2V.

A much cheaper way would be 2 buy 6 AAA rechargeables and put them in a battery holder and run the battery pack external in a plastic box for weatherproofing. Just needs a hole through for the flying lead which can be sealed with wax etc.,

Something like this:

I'll leave this here as it might help others in the future!

Just found this on Ebay - looks exactly the same as the pack from my siren.

Short update, EBay battery pack arrived and fitted but in this cold weather I have no immediate plans to refit the siren. If/when I get around to it I’ll post an update to confirm if it works.

Quick update. Finally got around to refitting the siren on Friday. Went off after 10 minutes but I figured internal batteries wouldn't be charged after a few months on the shelf so I left main car battery on a charger (to ensure good voltage) overnight, assuming this will also charge the siren battery. Now gone 30 hours with no false alarm so I'm putting the wheel arch liner back in today. PS, I had car jacked up at the front and had to disable to 'tow away' on the vehicle screen menu before locking car and leaving it to see if alarm went off.
