My W214 230CE comes fitted with the standard Scorpion Alarm system. Recently it has been playing up, often not disarming, which means I need to jump in with the alarm wailing and lights flashing and manually disarm it with the physical security key.

I am now looking at replacing the alarm. However, one complication I forsee is that my car is fitted with full closure (sunroof and any open windows close on arming). This is a feature I would really like to keep, ideally without having to buy it all over again.

Does anyone know how this unit operates? Is is integrated into the alarm, or does it just require a signal from the alarm in order to engage on arming?
Would it be easy to integrate this feature into another alarm system, I assume if it just requires a high or low pulse to engage this would be straight forward to set up.

And before anyone suggests I take the car to the Stealership to get the alarm looked at, I've tried that. They are actually quite willing to help, but since Scorpion apparently went bust some time ago, they need to remove the alarm system from the car, send it off to be checked out and fixed then reinstalled once again . . the labour charge alone for this would buy me a new alarm.

Thanks

I've been having problems with my Scorpion Alarm on and off on my 1991 230TE since I bouught the car 3 years ago. Before they went into receivership I sent the alarm unit to Scopion who ran a diagnostic on it and told me there was nothing wrong with it.

Since then, the cause of my problems has revealed itself to be dodgy connections (the multi-pin plugs to the unit itself are very loose) any bump or jolt to the car sets of the the alarm. I've just removed the unit with the intention of engineering some more robust connections.

I would suggest that you have a look and see if you have the same problem with the connections.

If you feel the connections are solid then the chance are your unit has gone AWOL. I had an estimate from an independant alarm specialist who quoted £200 about 18 months ago and the replacement alarm had all the same facalities as the Scorpion.

If you replace your unit I would be willing to buy the connections from you.
